Yes, it's true, there were Sephardic Jews in Italy, Greece, and Libya who were murdered by the Nazis.

I'm not sure about mass murders, but I know of several cases where Jews were victimized and killed by Muslims. One particular example includes my grandfather's brothers, who were hung because they were Jewish.
B"H we should never know of such things.Sefardi Galhttp://sefardigal.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2580547604062912375.post-66563572851470768972010-04-16T17:21:21.227-04:002010-04-16T17:21:21.227-04:00It's terrible that people could accuse you of ...It's terrible that people could accuse you of such a thing. My grandparents are all American (my 2 grandfathers were in the US army during WWII) so B"H I don't have first-hand connections to any survivors either. My background is largely Eastern European and I am Ashkenaz, but my maternal grandmother's family was from Turkey. Her great-uncle's entire family of 16 (from Greece) were all killed in Treblinka. To me it's ironic that of all my family members, it was the ones from the Sephardic side who ended up in the camps. I am sure there are plenty of Sephardim who were affected.

And I went to a Holocaust memorial in college this week... cried like a baby even though the kids onstage lighting candles for their grandparents were dry-eyed.

Question though- are there any Sephardic mass incidents that Ashkenazim don't commemorate?cortihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06500543390043802580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2580547604062912375.post-66674878960232414802010-04-15T11:55:14.051-04:002010-04-15T11:55:14.051-04:00BJG- I wasn't trying to say A1 as in the steak...BJG- I wasn't trying to say A1 as in the steak sauce when I originally wrote the comment.
