ICE CREAM

Some of my readers might've notice that I've cut off a significant chunk of my blog (if I recall correctly, around 50 posts) over the past few weeks.
Why have I done so?
Well, by now, y'all should know that I'm a bit crazed. That's nothing new.
But there are other reasons.

So, what is the focus of this blog now?
Divrei Torah? Halachot? Emunah? Spirituality? Tefillah? Rants? Israel? Goals? Dating/marriage? Politics? Random shtuyot? Sefardi culture?

Truth is that the focus is currently none and all of the above. The answer is merely summed up with one word: thoughts.
Are they mine? Usually.
Do I occasionally posess an alter-ego? Perhaps.
Does my blog define me? Not entirely.
Do I plan on updating regularly? Maybe.

So, what's the purpose of this blog? Honestly, I'm not sure.

It's a journey. Stick around if you wish. :)

  2. I guess if you have been around since the beginning there is no reason to go back to the old posts. If you would not have said anything I would have never known, but I will miss the top ten lists of best cereals, candies, etc.
Also, I was really hoping this post was about ice cream, but who would eat that now (look outside!).
Also, what kind of question is "what's the purpose of this blog?" isn't it clear?!
    Musings... Whatever that is.

  3. Shades of Grey - worried about shidduchim? HA.
    No.

Azriel Tzvi - yes, yes those deep, intellectual posts about cereal and pizza. How shall humanity movie on?

This post was about ice cream. Only not really.

Sometimes we need to be reminded about what we already know :)
(as it says in Chovot Halevavot)

  4. And btw, eating ice cream has little to do with the weather conditions. I assume most of you live in heated homes?

  5. I completely agree with your honesty and opinions.

Just one question: Why is, in fact, the title for this post "Ice Cream"? Are you attempting to elicit some sort of feelings of desire, guilt, or light-headedness within your audience? Or, are you just reflecting on the fact that your blog posts can be as diverse and unrelated as you wish?

In addition, can we request that you post on specific topics, such as current issues, or various topics in Judaism?

Just so you should know, I alternate between my names "mizrachigal" and "tikva4eva" so if you see either one, they are both me.
It basically just depends on my mood. :-)

Thanks! I viewed it more as my sheer ambivalence rather than my honesty :)

"Are you attempting to elicit some sort of feelings of desire, guilt, or light-headedness within your audience? Or, are you just reflecting on the fact that your blog posts can be as diverse and unrelated as you wish?"
Wow, I like the way you analyze!
Truth be told, I wish there was some philosophical esoteric meaning behind it...but I couldn't think of a well-fitting name for the post, so I just thought about something I ate today that I wasn't satisfied with: ice cream. Vanilla and chocolate swirl flavored, to be exact. And it really wasn't as yummy as I was hoping it would be. I decided I only like ice cream that has pieces of stuff inside (like chocolate chips or nuts), otherwise, it doesn't satisfy my cravings.

"In addition, can we request that you post on specific topics, such as current issues, or various topics in Judaism?"
I'm amazed that people really care about what I have to say. I can be really cynical and blunt, optimistic, or totally beat-around-the-bush about things. So with the "caveat emptor" in mind, sure, you can e-mail your request(s), and if my procastination doesn't (or does) get in the way, I'll consider posting about them :)

Noted! Looking forward to your posts -- and perhaps even your own blog?

  8. Batya - true. But change, in general, can sometimes be bittersweet. :)
